FILTRELEC® product line

USE

FILTRELEC® is a range of products which are indispensible to filter oil polluted water. They allow rainwater to percolate through whilst retaining hydrocarbons.
In all tests carried out, the filters discharged water with less than 5 ppm of oil concentration.
In case of an oil leak, the active product solidifies immediately avoiding any polluting discharge into the environment.

FILTRELEC® is made up of 2 complementary filtration kits:
- a first kit inside the containment that continuously purifies the fluids present
- the FILTRELEC® cartridge, placed outside, which is sealed and lets rainwater through as long as it is not saturated with hydrocarbons; when it becomes saturated, it acts as a sealed plug for any fluids.

FILTRELEC®'s active component is made of millions of plastic particles that absorb a large amount of organic hydrocarbons.
In their initial state and in the absence of compatible liquid, the particles are hard and let water flow through;
Once they are in contact with hydrocarbons, they absorb hydrocarbons into their solid structure and swell.
It does not release the liquid by pressure or gravity, even if they are cut in half: contrary to the classic polypropylene absorbent materials (chemically referred to as adsorbents), the liquid is retained in the product's molecular structure.
FILTRELEC® is a process that is widely used in the USA, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, and in the United Kingdom in order to trap hydrocarbons contained in bunds and tanks during accidental spills or marine spills.
Contrary to classic polypropylene products, FILTRELEC® reduces the amount of product necessary and therefore the costs of waste treatment.
It minimizes employees' exposition to dangerous vapours and prevents recontamination of sites during the removal of "sorbents".
Since the self-blocking system does not require any mechanical device or electrical connection, it limits the cost of maintenance considerably and makes this product a unique solution to continual filtering of rainwater draining from bunds.

INSTALLATION

AKHELEC sizes the type, number and location of FILTRELEC® according to the retention volume and rainfall recorded in the area of installation.
The tank engineering is carried out by our design office to offer you a complete solution: concrete tank, fire extinguishing system, rainwater evacuation and filtering of rainwater.
